Tailored for South African audiences this series is ideal for study groups, prayer groups and individuals.

Each program provides viewers with handy on-screen reference numbers to relevant articles in the catechism and questions for reflection or discussion.
In addition, DVD chapter points are conveniently provided for easy reference.

Fr. Sergius Wroblewski OFM came to South Africa from Chicago, USA to serve the Church in South Africa. He has been a seminary professor and has taught theological subjects for many years. He also published a dozen books and booklets on the spiritual life (including Christian Perfection for the Layman and Christ Centred Spirituality).

In South Africa he taught in the diocesan theology program for the laity and gave courses on the whole of the Bible. His concern has always been to integrate our Catholic tradition with Bible study. This concern is evident in this video series which covers the entire Catechism of the Catholic Church and enables the laity to read the Bible guided by Catholic Tradition.

Program 1- I Believe We Believe

(Articles 1-197)

In session one Father Sergius outlines the reasons for the Church producing the Catechism of the Catholic Church, who was involved and how the project was tackled. He then quickly moves into the subject of the human person searching for the much needed God, how God shows himself to them and how it is that we respond to the mysterious and hidden superior being.

Program 2 - I Believe in God the Father

(Articles 198-421)

There is no explanation for the Holy Trinity! Father Sergius details the statements of belief of Three Persons in One and links the monotheism of the Old Testament with the trinity of the New. He also tackles the controversy of creation where he contends that the universe is no accident, the tension between faith and science and the creation of humans and angels. Father Sergius discusses how God responds to the evil invading his creation.

Program 3 - I Believe in Jesus Christ, the Only Son of God

(Articles 422-570)

In session three, special attention is given to Jesus and Mary. The perpetual virginity of Mary is a fundamental teaching of the Catholic Church and Father Sergius brings understanding to the questions of why God wanted Mary to be a virgin and the teaching on virginal motherhood. From Mary, the focus changes to the person of Jesus, why he came and his life as a fellow human, particularly those years of his public ministry.

Program 4 - Jesus Suffered unde Pontius Pilate, was crucified died and was buried

(Articles 571-682)

Many important issues come up in this session: Jesus and the Law; Jesus and the Temple; Jesus and Monotheism. These issues put Christ on a collision course with the Jewish authorities and lead to his death. Father Sergius talks about these conflicts and the ultimate redemptive sacrifice of Christ. In this talk believers learn the significance of Christ descending to the dead, his resurrection, appearances, ascension and his second coming.

Program 5 - I Believe in the Holy Spirit

(Articles 683-870)

Who exactly is the Holy Spirit and where does this third divine person fit in the scheme of things? Father Sergius, with great passion, declares the teaching of the Church and the enormous influence the Holy Spirit has on the communion (the people of God). Provocatively, Father Sergius poses the question, "Is there salvation outside the Church?" This is a lively session.

Program 6 - The Hierarchical constitution of the Church

(Articles 871-1065)

Session six concludes that part of the Catechism of the Catholic Church dealing with the ‘Profession of Faith.’ started in Session One. In this presentation, Father Sergius talks about the Pope, Bishops, Priests, Deacons and the Laity. He talks about religious communities and about saints. With great compassion he explains the teachings on purgatory and hell and our own inevitable death and resurrection of the body.
